Leavening basket for leavening bread, not for baking the breads in.
Before using the basket for the first time, smear the in and the outside of the basket twice with a thin layer of cooking oil. Use sunflower oil or similar.
Before applying the dough, generously sprikle flour on the inside of the basket and if possible also sprinkle the dough itself with flour - the flour prevents it from sticking to the inside of the basket.
Give the dough enough time to leaven.
When leavened, heat the oven and tip dough onto a hot baking sheet or preferably a baking stone. We recommend you bake the bread at 230°C for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 210°C for the rest of the baking time.
Alternatively to sprinkling the dough with flour before applying it to the leaving basket you could also sprinkle it with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or similar. In that case you can leave out or reduce the amount of flour in the leavening basket.
After use, clean the basket and only use a small amount of water if needed. Water is only needed if some of the dough has stuck to the basket. Use only lukewarm water and leave the basket to air and dry completely before you put it back in the cupboard.
The raising basket does not tolerate a lot of water and it is not dishwasher safe.
This raising basket is also perfect for serving breads in.
