Proofing basket - Round - With linen.
Hand-woven baskets in oblong or round designs, with linen covers.
Most people who have tried to raise a soft dough in a proofing basket know the problem: You want to turn the dough out of the basket in an instant... but the dough often sticks between the grooves, regardless of how much flour you have coated the basket and the dough with in advance. The solution is to use a proofing basket which linen cover. The dough falls out of the basket without sticking.
Note: Proofing baskets must not be placed in the oven - they are only used for raising dough.
The baskets are made of untreated rattan. Rattan is often confused with bamboo. Bamboo cannot be bent because it is hollow. Rattan, on the other hand, is solid and can, after it has been steamed, be bent into all sorts of shapes. Rattan is a climbing palm and grows in the rainforest where it forms lianas. The majority of the world consumption of rattan comes from Indonesia.
The proofing basket can also be used as a decorative bread basket.

Leavening basket for leavening bread, not for baking the breads in.
Before applying the dough, generously sprikle flour on the inside of the basket (with linen) and if possible also sprinkle the dough itself with flour - the flour prevents it from sticking to the inside of the basket.
Give the dough enough time to leaven.
When leavened, heat the oven and tip dough onto a hot baking sheet or preferably a baking stone. We recommend you bake the bread at 230°C for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 210°C for the rest of the baking time.
Alternatively to sprinkling the dough with flour before applying it to the leaving basket you could also sprinkle it with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or similar. In that case you can leave out or reduce the amount of flour in the leavening basket.
After use, discard excess amount of flour from the basket linen. Clean the linen with lunk warm water if needed. Let the linen air dry completely before you put it back in the cupboard.
