pH-Duotest 1.0 - 4.3 is an effective way to test the pH of your kombucha. The duotest strips are two-colored, which makes it easier to determine where on the pH-scale the kombucha is located.
To measure the pH, a single drop of the kombucha is dripped onto a small piece of the test paper. After just a few seconds, the pH can be read by comparison with the color scale.
When starting up a new batch of kombucha, make sure the pH of the mixture of tea and the kombucha from last batch (typically mix in the ratio 6:1) is 4.1-4.3. Adjusting the pH downward can be done by adding additional ready-made kombucha or storage vinegar. Adjusting the pH upward is done by adding more sugary tea, as indicated in the instructions for fermentation of kombucha. During the fermentation, the pH will drop below 2 and it is up to the individual's taste to stop the fermentation when the desired acidity is achieved.
A pH-measurement can be done using just 1 cm of the test-paper - giving the possibility to perform 100 measurements with the 1 m roll.
